New On-line Bible Study (OBS) #LivingSoThat

You may have seen that I started a new Bible study this week.  The title of the book is Living So That by Wendy Blight; the online Bible study is being hosted by Proverbs 31 Ministries (It’s not too late join, go here:  From the minute I picked up my book at the local Barnes and Noble bookseller, I KNEW I would LOVE this book!  First, I LOVE the cover (I can’t help it, I judge a book by its cover)!  I love the uneven pages and the texture of the book cover and the pages!

After I watched the OBS introductory video, I loved the explanation of the title:  Scripture references containing “So That.”

Next, I was drawn to the chapter titles:  Jesus Came So That; God Spoke So That; Pray So That; Trials Come So That; and Let Your Light Shine So That.  I love that each chapter has a memory verse (I LOVE SCRIPTURE VERSES!) and opens with prayer.

With the heightened anxiety of my day (read previous posts), I have learned to EMERSE myself in His Word when I experience uneasiness about anything!  These were some of my favorite readings from the book today (Yes, I went out of order – I do that a LOT with books!):

Prayer from Chapter 4:  Trails Come So That…

Psalm 62: 1-8

I wait quietly before God,
for my victory comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will never be shaken.

So many enemies against one man—
all of them trying to kill me.
To them I’m just a broken-down wall
    or a tottering fence.
They plan to topple me from my high position.
They delight in telling lies about me.
They praise me to my face
but curse me in their hearts.

Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken.
My victory and honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.
O my people, trust in him at all times.
Pour out your heart to him,
    for God is our refuge.

Memory Verse for Chapter 3:  Pray So That….

Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Chapter 3 Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of prayer.  I invite You to speak a fresh Word to me this week.  I don’t want my prayer time to be a religious ritual that I do each day.  I don’t want it to be another thing I check off my “to do” list.  Teach me to pray with power.  I want my prayers to be effective and bring results that will glorify and honor You and You alone.  Feed me Your living and active Word.  Plant it deep in my heart so that I can recall it and pray it with my lips.  As I speak Your Word and hold it before You, I trust You to honor it…for it is Your Word.  Thank You that Your Word, when prayed, will not return void but will accomplish what You desire and achieve the purpose for which You sent it….

I happened to stumble across the new study last Friday and it’s PERFECTLY TIMED (as He always is!)

God IS IN CONTROL (as always)!!!  AMEN!!!!
